Once again, we are accepting proposals from North Carolina-based chamber ensembles to present concerts on our Sights & Sounds on Sundays six-concert series
co-sponsored with the NC Museum of Art.

Chiara String Quartet

Progress Energy Center
The first performance in the 2008-2009 Masters Series features the Chiara String Quartet in a program entitled Mestizaje: Harmony of Differences , music by composers immersed in more than one culture . Featured are works by Gabriela Lena Frank, Zhou Long, Osvaldo Golijov, and Béla Bártok.
A rising star in the string quartet world, the Chiara Quartet was recently awarded with the Guarneri Quartet Residency Award for artistic excellence by Chamber Music America. The Quartet's other honors include a top prize at the Paolo Borciani International Competition, winning the Astral Artistic Services National Audition, and winning First Prize at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.

2008 September Prelude Chamber Music Workshop
Guest Artists: The Chiara String Quartet

UNC Chapel Hill
The workshop will feature master classes for adults. In addition to the Chiara Quartet, coaches will include artists from UNC, Duke, and the NC Symphony. The classes will target repertoire for strings, strings and piano, and mixed ensembles with winds. Pre-formed groups are encouraged to apply. Individual applications are also welcomed.

The workshop has been made possible through the generosity of ACMP, The Chamber Music Network, and the Clinton B. Ford Fund of its ACMP Foundation, an organization that stimulates and expands the playing of chamber music for pleasure.
Ritz Chamber Players

The third performance in the 2008-2009 Masters Series features the Ritz Chamber Players performing works by Mozart, Handel, Mendelssohn and contemporary composers Alvin Singleton and Paquito D'Rivera .
The Ritz Chamber Players, the nation's first chamber music ensemble series comprised solely of accomplished musicians spanning the African diaspora, brings a fresh, new energy to the classical music genre.
The Ritz Chamber Players include some of the world's most accomplished musicians. They have performed with the most prestigious musical organizations such as the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and London Symphony.

Ciompi Quartet with pianist Randall Love

The fourth concert in the 2008-2009 Sights & Sounds series features the Ciompi Quartet with guest pianist Randall Love in a program entitled Form, Content, Aesthetic: The Long Shadow of Romanticism .
The program includes works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, George Rochberg, and local composer Bill Robinson .

Masters Series — 2008-2009 Season
The Raleigh Chamber Music Guild Masters Series announces its 67th season , with an exciting roster of artists spanning a wide range of instrument ensembles. We hope you share our excitement and will join us for the 2008-2009 season. Concerts take place at 3 PM in Fletcher Theater of the Progress Energy Center.

Now celebrating its 10th season , this series is a cooperative venture of the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild, features some of the most exciting performers in our region. Unless otherwise noted, all concerts take place at 3 PM at the North Carolina Museum of Art.
