ALL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SITES ARE TOBACCO-FREE
The entire campus of Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island is now tobacco-free. Beginning November 20, 2008—the day of the Great American Smokeout—the hospital joins with eight other members of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island in demonstrating their commitment to improving the health of Rhode Islanders by providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.

The tobacco-free policy applies to all areas at Memorial’s main hospital and at its affiliates in Pawtucket (Women’s Health Care Specialists and the Primary Care Center of Quality Hill at 174 Armistice Boulevard and the Neurodevelopmental Center and Memorial Hospital Home Care at 555 Prospect Street); in Central Falls (Notre Dame Ambulatory Center at 1000 Broad Street), and in Plainville, MA (Southeastern Medical Center at 60 Messenger Street).

The use of tobacco products is not allowed in buildings, entrances, walkways, outdoor areas and parking lots. There are no designated smoking areas on hospital property. The policy applies to all inpatients, outpatients, visitors, volunteers, and students, as well as employees and medical staff.
