A Taste of Italy: Naples and Sorrento

We know Italy is really two countries in one and to experience a real taste of Italy Naples and Sorrento are your destinations.

Naples

Naples is a city with a reputation, and not a very good reputation. For many some words that come to mind when thinking about Naples include unmentionables like dirty and crime infested. While these descriptions may be true, it is also true that Naples is a very colorful city. Yes crime is a problem, but you will be fine if you employ just a little common sense.

Naples is all about truth. When in Naples you won’t get that odd tourist feeling like you get in some of Italy’s other cities. Naples is about living. It’s people can be a bit gruff, but are also a heck of lot more colorful than you find elsewhere throughout the country. It’s also been said you get in trouble in Naples, all you need do is bring up the subject of soccer and you’ll suddenly have friends for life.

Pitigliano The Little Jerusalem In Maremma

Pitigliano is a small town in Italy, situated south of Florence and north of Rome. Pitigliano is situated on the top of a steep tuff of a volcanic magma.

Pitigliano was considered the home of Jews. They shared the habitat with the gentile population of the town in a harmonious manner and together contributed for the cultural and social development of both communities. The village landscape reminds you of the Jerusalem city. The tuff rock bears unison with the medieval structures. The picturesque of the emerging grayish cluster of buildings from the dark woods brings the memory of the days of the Jewish community in this small religious city. Its culture and civilization is a tribute to the enduring devotion of the minority Jewish community towards this city.

The natural attractions of Pitigliano are the wild forest surrounding the cliff and the creeks that are developed into deep valleys. The largest Italian lake, Lake Bolsena is situated near Pitigliano. The landscape of Pitigliano is beautified with Mount Amiata, a 1738-meter high volcano that was separated from it long time ago. The Maremma coast extends 50 kilometers from Pitigliano with beautiful beaches that are not invaded by the human activities.

Lufthansa efficiency

Christina Vlahova

It does not happen that often these days that airlines surprise you with their innovation and efficiency. And that is why I wanted to share an experience I recently had, flying with Lufthansa, which totally amazed me.

Having a connecting flight can be tricky sometimes, especially when you have a short connecting time between flights and even more so when your first flight is being delayed.

On my way home via Munich, I had a 50 min of connecting time between flights and the first flight took off with a 35 min delay. And it did very much look like a lost battle and I was already preparing myself to bolt through the airport to reach the next flight’s gate, totally giving up on my luggage arriving together with me or even worse, I was also thinking that if I do not make it, being an evening flight, I would probably have to spend the night in Munich.

And then, upon arrival, and while still in the airplane, the airhostess made an announcement for passengers with a connecting flight to my final destination, that they will be expected at the foot of the airplane.

And here came the Wow! experience:

Vacation Rentals in Tuscany and Umbria

Visiting the Tuscany and Umbria border Region

South eastern Tuscany meets its smaller neighbour Umbria, on Umbria’s north eastern border. The border area of Tuscany and Umbria in Italy is a wonderful place to stay as the visitor is able to visit the many cities and towns of the two regions while staying in one of the most picturesque areas the world has to offer and enjoying one of its greatest cuisines. The area is largely rural, the main crops are sunflowers, maize, olives, vines and tobacco which is being phased out. Modernity has been slow to reach this area and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, many visitors feel as if they had stepped back in time 30 or 40 years. Staying in this area you are within 90% of UNESCOs world art treasures: Rome and Florence are within two hours drive and one must not forget the important art works of nearer towns such as Arezzo, Siena, Perugia and Assisi. Apart from their art treasures these towns are places everyone enjoys visiting. All have their own architectural delights and meandering lanes and interesting shops and restaurants. Also worth visiting are the Tuscan towns of ; Cortona and Sansepolcro and the Umbrian towns of Gubbio,Citta di Castello, Todi and Orvieto. Lovers of ceramics will also want to visit Deruta which produces some of the finest majolica.

Wine lovers are also in for a treat as many great wines are found in this area. Although Chianti is not strictly on the Tuscany Umbria border it is only a short drive. The brunellos of Montalcino and Vino Nobile of Montepulciano are found in this area.
