Georgian Bay Fishing

Ontario's 6th Great Lake is one of the most diverse fish habitats in the Province of Ontario. Georgian Bay fishing locations can be found at fishing lodges , area resorts, and the many rivers flowing toward Georgian Bay and the watershed resorts & cottages as well as various hotel properties not on the water directly can arrange fishing packages. Pick a Georgian Bay town or city and book your favorite hotel chain on-line.

Fishing Regulations and Zones

In the Recreational Fishing Regulations summary, and the area of Georgian Bay is classified as zone 14 in the new fisheries guidelines as part of the Great Lakes.

Fishing on Manitoulin Island has its own set of regulations as it is located in zone 10 in the new fisheries regualation.

Similarly a significant portion of the French River is included in Zone 11

Current fishing regulations for 2007-08 can be found on the Ontario Ministry Natural Resources site.

Georgian Bay Fish Species

The species listed include, Walleye & Sauger, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Muskellunge (Musky), Yellow Perch, Crappie, Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Splake, Pacific Salmon (Chinook, Coho, and Pink Salmon), Atlantic Salmon, Whitefish, Sturgeon and Channel Catfish.

Note: Georgian Bay near the mouth of 12-Mile Bay is a fish sanctuary and is closed all year. Make yourself familiar with the Ministry of Natural Resources Fishing Regulations restrictions, and exceptions.
