Jaguar belonging to TV star up for sale

One of the UK's top TV stars car is up for sale, the Jaguar that belonged to comedienne Dawn French is for on top car sales site Auto Trader.

Dawn French is best known for her roles as one half of the French and Saunders comedy partnership and probably most loved for the role as the lady vicar in the hugely successful sitcom The Vicar of Dibley, and of course she is married to that other comedy superstar Lenny Henry.

The car is a 1997 Jaguar XK8 coupé, which has the fantastic four litre V8 that will produce up to 290 bhp, and can take you from zero to sixty in only 6.5 seconds and then keep going until it reaches the top speed of 155 mph and will give you around 22 mpg. The engine has done around 102,000 miles.

Naturally the car has many luxury additions such as air con, electric windows, 18 inch alloy wheels, power steering, traction control, sports seats and the statutory music system.

But one of the more interesting details is the fact that the car will be sold with the private that Dawn French had put on the car, of which she was the first owner of. The number plate is:

DE VYL (DEVIL)

Which is quite apt really, considering her role as Geraldine Grainger.

Interested parties can view the car on the Auto Trader site, where it is up for sale at only £8,495!

Big weekend ahead at Goodwood

The Goodwood Festival of Speed, will be taking place this weekend at Goodwood House, situated near Chichester in West Sussex, promises to be one of the best festivals for years.

Of course there will the famous hill climb where cars of all ages and types will be racing flat out up the world famous driveway of the house, this both challenging and exciting to watch and to take part in.

But this years event will no doubt be over shadowed by the arrival of Formula One world championship leader Lewis Hamilton, and in fact he will be joined by the other past and present F1 drivers such as Jenson Button who will be driving his F1 Honda on Sunday, and also making appearances will be Red Bull's David Coulthard and Super Aguri's Anthony Davidson. Former visiting F1 stars will include Sir Jackie Stewart, Martin Brundle, Damon Hill and Mark Blundell, which is quite a prospect for all motor racing fans.

Along with the stars there are the cars, and this years event will see the introduction of the new Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster, which will be shown off by Lewis Hamilton, as well as a new feature, Clean Green Cars, who are holding an exhibition of some of best green cars around including, Toyota's 400bhp hybrid FT-HS coupe, Saab's biofuel Aero X, the electric Tesla Roadster, BMW's Hydrogen 7, Peugeot's diesel 908RC limousine concept, the strange looking electric Nissan Pivo, Ford's Iosis-X four-wheel drive.

This years festival of speed will prove to probably be one the best for some time, with everything from F1 to the Green machines of the future.
