Bangkok, Thailand (July 17 2007) - Pranburi International Triathlon will be the first international sporting event to be held in the central southern Thai town of Pranburi located close to Hua Hin.

The race will take place on 20th October at Evason Six Senses Resort & Spa and will consist of a swim in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, a bike course close to Sam Roi Yot National Park and a run through the fishing villages and along the coast of Pranburi with a beach finish. There will be an Olympic distance course with individual and relay competitions (1.5 kilometer swim, 40km cycle, 10 km run) as well as a sprint distance race (750 m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run).

Six Senses Evason Hua Hin Resort & Spa will host the event and is offering a first prize package consisting of a three night stay in a two-bedroom pool suite villa at the super deluxe Evason Hideaway resort. Awards will also be given to the first three finishers in each age group category.

A pre-race dinner will be provided at Evason Resort and the race will be followed by an extravagant awards ceremony around the swimming pool overlooking the beach on the evening of 20th October.

The race is the result of an initiative by forward thinking tour operator, Exotissimo Travel. "Our primary goals in arranging the initial Pranburi International Triathlon are to promote tourism to Thailand and to create a long lasting quality race that will attract both professional and top age group athletes" says Hamish Keith, Managing Director of Exotissimo Thailand. Race organizers also include Struan Robertson of SpiceRoads, who will provide professional course management.

Athletes participating in the inaugural race are expected to come primarily from Thailand and neighboring countries with international triathletes also invited. With an abundance of beautiful natural scenery including the spectacular Sam Roi Yot National park and long stretches of sandy beaches the race will be scenic as well as challenging. Located just a three hour drive from Bangkok and a short drive from the busy tourist centres of Hua Hin and Cha Am, Pranburi is ideally situated to host an international sporting event.

A range of sponsorship opportunities are available for what promises to be a spectacular weekend and a date has already been set for next years race, which will take place on 25 October 2008.

Special hotel and tour packages for athletes and their families can be arranged by contacting Exotissimo Travel.
