Barangay Filipino in New England up and running
Boston, MA: Fil-Am Ramon Raagas of this city announced the launch of BarangayFilipino.com, a website for Filipinos in New England.
Barangay Filipino in New England aims to create an online community for Filipinos in the region, promote Filipino activities and inform visitors coming to the region of events and other useful information as well as to promote Filipino businesses.
Barangay Filipino in New England recognizes and celebrates the fact that Filipinos are a part of a larger community, though specifically, the New England states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont are highlighted. The Tagalog word "barangay" (also known as barrio) is the smallest local government unit in the Philippines and is the native Filipino term for a village, district or ward. Wiki describes Barangay as being derived from an ancient Malayo-Polynesian boat called a balangay. From
