Rising Self-Help Star Alan Roger Currie: "'Mode One, The Sequel' Is In The Works"
(Reporter7.com 2007-07-12) Even Robert Beck a.k.a. "Iceberg Slim" authored at least five or six books. So why wouldn't up-and-coming author and Internet radio host Alan Roger Currie follow up his first effort with a sequel?? Currie's first self-published book, "Mode One: Let The Women Know What You're REALLY Thinking" has developed such a cult following that even the WOMEN are begging for a 'Part II.' Currie recently announced that a sequel is in the works, and should be published sometime between Summer 2008 and Spring 2009. Currie, who's notoriety is rising quickly, also stated that his second book in the "Mode One" series will more-than-likely raise more eyebrows and provoke more controversy than his debut paperback, which primarily centered on improving men's interpersonal communication skills with women.
Currie's male fans want more advice, knowledge, and shared wisdom to help them improve their interactions with women in today's ever-so-challenging dating scene. Currie's female fans desire more of a "Letters To Penthouse" styled sequel that will chronicle some of the author's now legendary ultra-bold and erotically straightforward "first conversation" approaches that first led the whole concept of "Mode One Behavior" to be developed in the first place.
"The vast majority of women I'm acquainted with want me to write an 'erotic memoirs' type book. Similar in theme to the popular real-life stories you would find in a volume of 'Letters To Penthouse' ...," said Currie, amused by the prospect of a literary "erotic kiss & tell" sequel to "Mode One." "The men I know could care less about my infamous 'same-day seduction stories' ... they want more detailed knowledge on how to improve their own ability to attract women, converse with them more effectively, and ultimately seduce them," added Currie.
In addition to continuing to promote his first book, "Mode One," he is also acting as host of an Internet radio show on BlogTalkRadio.com entitled "Upfront & Straightforward with Alan Roger Currie." Currie desires to interview other book authors, self-improvement and dating 'gurus,' and Media and Entertainment Industry celebrities who can contribute to any discussion related to dating, sex, seduction, male-female interactions overall, and men's issues in general. "I would love to interview people like Hugh Hefner, Zalman King, John Leslie, Jon Favreau, Tyler Perry, Zane, Mary B. Morrison, Datwon Thomas and a host of other noteworthy people," said Currie, announcing some of the names on his 'interview goal list.'
"I still remember the first time I ever talked about my thoughts on dating and sex publicly. It was Monday, February 2, 1987 on the Oprah Winfrey Show. I remember that moment like it was yesterday. That's when her show was still being taped 'live,' and the audience members were more involved in each show. She asked me about my thoughts on men having one-night stands with women. I was scared to death to respond...," laughed Currie, who also was asked about his thoughts on cheating and adultery as an audience member of the old "Phil Donahue Show" in September of 1990.
Currie was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in December of 1992. He owns a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Theatre & Drama. "I never wanted a career related to economics. I just wanted to learn how to read the Wall Street Journal," joked Currie, who has primarily pursued careers in the Entertainment Industry, such as acting, modeling, stand-up comedy, screenwriting and filmmaking. Currie resided in Hollywood, California between 1998 and 2000 before returning to the Midwest in late 2000 after his late father, Clarence, suffered a heart attack. Currie still travels to Los Angeles quite frequently. Currie was the Grand Prize Winner of the 1989 Chicago Miller Lite Comedy Search Contest, the same contest that launched the career of Film and TV star, Bernie Mac ("Transformers," "Ocean's Thirteen").
Currie decided to write and publish "Mode One" after some close friends and acquaintances of his witnessed his bold, brash, and provocatively straightforward verbal behavior towards women. "It was almost like a 'pattern' of behavior by women. I would approach them, and say something really bold and unconventional ... many times, even 'X-rated' .... and for the first few minutes, they would harshly criticize me. Some women would come close to cursing me out. Then, either minutes later, hours later, or days later ... most of these same women would end up dating me or having [casual] sex with me. It would blow my friends' minds," said Currie.
"I don't have the outline for my sequel completed as of yet, but trust me ... it's going to tick some people off. I already know that. I'm going after the puritanical prudes and sexual hypocrites of society in a BIG way," warned Currie. "I think the invalid beliefs and erroneous teachings of prudes and hypocrites do more damage and cause more confusion to the minds of teenage boys and girls than erotically explicit literature does," added Currie.
