CALIFORNIA WIDOW HOPES TO TRANSFORM ROBOT COLLECTION INTO BIG BUCKS FOR GRAD SCHOOL.
With the release of the blockbuster film, TRANSFORMERS, on July 4, 2007, one of the largest private collections of Generation One (G1) Transformers is up for auction on ebay with a price of $1 million. Held in storage for the past 23 years by the original collector's estate, this is the finest example of original issue Transformers collectables available on the market today.
The collection has been verified using the Hasbro web site and its original issue list. The collector acquired the 275 piece collection between 1984 and 1988 purchasing each piece individually as they were released by Hasbro.
Anthony Lindgren began amassing the extensive collection in 1984 after a serious motorcycle accident left him unable to work. He entertained himself at home watching the 'new- cartoon - Transformers. A trip to Toys R Us with his wife, Phoenix Lindgren, started the collection, where they agreed to purchase Starscream, the first of nearly 200 Transformers.
The collection ends with the almost complete 1987 Transformers collection, as Anthony had acquired HIV due to the blood disorder hemophilia, and a blood transfusion during his recovery from that fateful motorcycle accident. He would pass away in 1998 at the age of forty from complications of AIDS.
The collection has been kept in a storage facility until his wife, Phoenix Lindgren could part with it. 'It seems to be the right time to consider offers for Anthony's collection. I just graduated from college, and plan on attending veterinary school in Fall 2008. I'm hoping Anthony's love for Transformers will help me pay off my massive debt from college and finance my tenure in veterinary school. I know he would have loved to see this collection make a big difference in my personal transformation.-
