THE SHAKE GET LICENSE TO WED, JOIN BAND OF THIEVES ON STAGE AUGUST 7
THE SHAKE‘s original song 'Let Me Take You Far Away" has been added into Warner Brothers Pictures' License to Wed The track, from the band's debut Unicycle Records album Kick It, will also appear on the movie soundtrack, on Bulletproof Records (release date T.B.A.)
(Reporter7.com 2007-07-09) It's been quite a celebratory week for THE SHAKE; in addition to Fourth of July festivities, the NYC-based band had a song debut on screen with the July 4th opening of a major studio motion picture, and got confirmation of their next big area concert.

THE SHAKE‘s original song 'Let Me Take You Far Away- has been added into Warner Brothers Pictures' just-released feature film License to Wed starring Robin Williams, Mandy Moore and John Krasinski. The track, from the band's debut Unicycle Records album Kick It, will also appear on the movie soundtrack, on Bulletproof Records (release date T.B.A.)

In just one day of release, License to Wed has grossed over 2 million dollars and was seen on over 2400 screens across the country. That means that thousands of movie-goers have had the chance to hear THE SHAKE's new music.

Nearly the entire four minutes-plus of 'Let Me Take You Far Away- can be heard in a scene about half-way through the film, when Moore's and Krasinski's characters are being counseled by Williams' Reverend Frank character - along with other mismatched affianced couples - in'of all places'a bar! The setting features awkward and hilarious moments as the couples work through their anger issues and the lyrics to 'Let Me Take You Far Away- reflect just that:

'I would like to start a conversation,
I would like to have a conversation, and finish it with you today
Cuz there are things that we should settle out
There's nothing that we shouldn't settle out
So we can see what's the problem here.-

Lead singer Jon Merkin explains, ''Let Me Take You Far Away' was written about an ex-girlfriend. I had just returned from a year living abroad and we had, regrettably, fallen out of touch. When I returned to the States, I wrote this song for her.-

Song publisher Randy Frisch says of THE SHAKE, 'What drew me to the band was their sound. It's very energetic and contemporary. This was the first opportunity I had to place their music in my projects and we struck it big!-

To compliment this exciting holiday weekend, it was announced through their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/theshakeband) that THE SHAKE will take the stage at New York City's Knitting Factory with acclaimed indie act Band of Thieves. The August 7, 2007 Tuesday night show begins at 8pm. Press tickets are available upon request.
